Why do you drum?
"I don't know how to explain it.
It's just something I have to do."
These are the words that constantly replay from Nancy, no matter what the subject. Consequently, when I receive even a greeting card or anything from her, I prepare myself to read and encyclopedic version of something that three words can justifiably suffice.
It's a little odd that I would be writing this personal page for Nancy, but God put a muzzle on her and filled me with innate knowledge of her heart. I often tell Nancy that I know her better than she knows herself. Kinda scary.
I've known Nancy for a long time. I've seen her undergo incredible frustrations inside, outside and around. One of these frustrations is her health. She struggles daily with it; never knowing if she's going to have any energy for the day or experience pain throughout the day or even have clarity of mind. Drums are her way of relaxing, releasing, screaming, yelling, shouting, and magnifying. Her heart too full to form words, there is only expression. Quite ironically, Nancy is a quiet soul, one that hugs your heart and washes your pain with her own tears, ignoring any of her own. This is my friend, Nancy, anam cara. I am blessed to know her and share this beloved ministry for our Lord and Saviour.
